Welcome to the home page of The Society of Anaesthetists of Hong Kong (SAHK).

We are a group of anaesthetists dedicated to the anaesthetic community in Hong Kong. We are also interested in providing education and information to other medical professionals such as physicians and surgeons; and also to nursing staffs who are closely involved in the practice of anaesthesia.

NEWS AND UPDATES (updated 12 December 2011):

• SAHK will be attending the WCA 2012 in Argentina for the promotion of our WCA 2016 in HK. In order to encourage our Hong Kong colleagues to join us for the promotion, SAHK would like to offer sponsorship to those colleagues who are attending WCA 2012. We plan to sponsor 10 colleagues to go. The amount of sponsorship for each colleague is HK$10000.

   Criteria for the application are as follows:

  1) Going to attend WCA 2012 in Argentina;

  2) SAHK members (new membership application is also accepted)

  No more application will be accepted once 10 colleagues have been offered the sponsorship. Therefore, please plan for the trip to Argentina earlier. I would also like to remind you that the deadline for the early bird registration of WCA 2012 is the end of November 2011!!!

• The SAHK Annual General Meeting will be held at Sheraton Hotel on 19 December 2011 and so it's now time for members to nominate your new council before the meeting!!! Please download and fill out this nomination form and return it to Dr David Chong at 'Department of Anaesthesiology & OTS, QEH' by mail or by fax: 29586028 on or before 17th December 2011. You can nominate one or more nominees. Remember - only paid up Ordinary or Life members are eligible to stand for election!!! This year's AGM will be held at Ching Room, 4/F, Sheraton Hotel, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon. AGM will start at 1830 and lecture on 'Thoughts about General Anaesthesia' by Prof. Yu Bu Wei will follow at 1900. Dinner will be served at 2000. • It's also time for you to renew your membership at SAHK. At SAHK, not only will you enjoy the benefits of the lectures and courses we organise, you may also be able to receive grants and sponsorships for conferences and courses. Ordinary membership fee is HKD150 per annum, while lifetime membership fee is only HKD1500 for life! • The Examination Technique Workshop 2011 was once again held this year on 18 September 2011 (Sunday). The overall feedback was great and we look forward to having Dr Keith Greenland for the years to come!

• We are very proud to have Prof. Alice Pik Shan Kong and Dr. Vladimir Skljarevski talking to us on "Duloxetine for Treatment of DPNP" on 20 June 2011. The lecture was held at Shanghai Room 1, Level 8, Langham Place Hotel, 555 Shanghai Street, Mongkok, Kowloon.

• Registration for WCA 2012 is now open! The WCA 2012 will be held at La Rural, Buenos Aires, Argentina from 25-30 March 2012.

Online registration for the 15th WFSA World Congress of Anaesthesiologists is now open at www.wca2012.com. Early registration discounts are available for a limited time, so book early for the best prices!

• And for your information, the 16th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists will be hosted in Hong Kong in 2016!
