Welcome to the home page of The Society of Anaesthetists of Hong Kong (SAHK).

We are a group of anaesthestists dedicated to the anaesthetic community in Hong Kong. We are also interested in providing education and information to other medical professionals such as physicians and surgeons; and also to nursing staffs who are closely involved in the practice of anaesthesia.

• The 14th World Pain Clinic Congress, the 1st Asian Congress on Pain and the 4th Annual Meeting of Chinese Chapter of WSPC will be held at Beijing International Convention Centre on 29th October to 1st November 2010.

WSPC Congress is held in China for the first time and Chinese clinicians will communicate the knowledge and information with the rest of the world in order to relieve the agony of patients suffering from chronic pain.

• The First International Consensus Conference on the “Reduction in Mortality in Cardiac Anesthesia and Intensive Care” took place on the 28th of June 2010 at the San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, Italy.

The aim of this International Consensus Conference is to try and identify all the drugs and techniques with extraordinary properties (ie. the reduction or increase of all-cause mortality), and then to suggest to researchers and donors on which topics they should be focusing when performing trials or financing research in the immediate future.

• The 13th Asian-Australasian Congress of Anesthesiologists was held from June 1 to June 5 in 2010 at Fukuoka International Congress Center, Fukuoka, Japan. For more information, please visit their website at www.aaca2010.jp!

• The World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) takes place every 4 years and the 15th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists will be held at La Rural, Buenos Aires, Argentina from 25-30 March 2012. Please visit www.wca2012.com for more information.

• The 17th Annual Congress of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine & International Critical Care Congress 2011 will be held from 17th to 21st February 2011 in New Delhi, India. Please visit their website www.criticare2011.org or download their brochure!

• The 2010 Nysora World Congress took place in the United Arab Emirate (UAE) of Dubai in March 2010.

• The SAHK 2009 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Meeting was held on 8 Dec 09 Wednesday at the Sheraton Hotel, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon.

• We organised the Examination Technique Workshop again last year on 28 Nov 09 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital!
